The Quantum Terror is a 2022 Lovecraftian horror movie created by Christopher "Moonlight" Cooksey that won Best Indie Horror Movie from Film Threat's 'Award This' independent film award. It features a ton of practical effects monsters and miniatures, as well as old-school optical trickery combined with digital VFX. Shot with a digital camera on weekends, This movie is an example of what imagination, determination, and talent can do on the smallest of budgets.

The CES 2024 presentations are now underway and the lack of imagination as to what the future can be with this wonderful AI technology is what's most disconcerting. I want to address it.

The studios don't exist to employ people, they exist to make money.
Hollywood is a gig economy that can't economically sustain the number of people wanting to work. It's always been that way and the people who built the foundations you stand on understood that.
You can blame greed but the truth is everyone on every level has failed to consistently deliver a product that brings in enough of an audience with their money, to be sustainable. In fact, many of you participated in activity chasing them away.
If you want to be a part of the filmmaking process and make a living, your choices are to be talented and smart enough (those are two separate things) to incentivize producers to use your services over your competitors by showing you still have value that will bring in revenue. Otherwise, you should seek life elsewhere until you can assume the assets and take the risks required to build your own production company.
Solidarity has always been the road that leads off of an eventual cliff, which is why no matter what the guilds do, not everyone will be returning to work anytime soon and many lives are already in ruin.
Most of you will ignore this and continue to point the finger at AmpTp and yes, they hold a great deal of the blame but there is plenty of that to go around. I'm seeing the posts about suicides and homelessness becoming more and more frequent.
If you want to see things get better then own your contributions and stop turning a blind eye to the negative and destructive results of your own actions.

Failure is not only an option, it's a choice. Everyone is prepared for things to get worse in their lives but have you considered that in doing so you're robbing yourself of the ability to prepare yourself for something better? Well, I have a few things to say about it.

It's no secret that the Frank Frazetta/Ralph Bakshi animated 80s cult-classic Fire and Ice is a huge influence on my own work in animation. I thought I'd see what AI could do for it, while still upholding the integrity of the animator's original intent.

We're in early animation testing for our sci-fi series Escape From Planet Omega-12. (Note: Clothing will be added in another pass.) Here you see tests using generic 3D models with the AI program Stable Diffusion. It's got a lot of flaws to work through but we're getting there. Once we have it all dialed in this will become a big part of our animation pipeline, although not all of it. If you're familiar with our project, you'll know that we'll be incorporating this in with practical effects miniatures and puppets, as well as some hand-drawn animation.

Tera, the beautiful lone survivor of a doomed space mission is marooned on a hostile alien planet. This animated movie will combine practical effects miniature sets, puppets, CGI, and hand-drawn animation to create a stunning, sexy, action-packed visual style never seen in a movie before that bucks the trends and flies in the face of what’s thought of to be socially acceptable.

This is not just another project for me, though.

For years I have worked on independent projects for myself, other producers, theater, and music videos, bringing to bear all the inspiration I have taken from animation, practical effects, and comic books. From the miniature backgrounds of the old Fleischer Popeye cartoons, the disciplined action of Samurai Jack, the puppets of The Dark Crystal movie and TV series, the unapologetically brutal and sensual art of Frank Frazetta, and all the classic sci-fi that made my childhood, I learned that there is one constant that marks them all: they pushed the envelope of their medium to bring us something beautiful that fills us with transcendent wonder.

I believe that stories matter. Beauty matters.

An experiment blending quantum physics with the occult opens up a doorway to a surreal underground world of monsters and shadow people. Watch it tonight on Tubi.
